Inimitable ‘Pochise Boishak’

Artist Indrajit Nattoji presented a unique collection of paintings at the ICCR on Saturday, 19th May. The art exhibition was titled “Tagore in Shorthand”. The paintings explore Rabindranath Tagore’s literary works through handwriting his poems and songs in his image. Each artwork showcases Kavi Guru’s literary works in his image. The portraits depict Tagore as a young man in his later years.

When the artist was asked about why he chose Tagore, he said that the Bengali ‘force’ in him has always been strong. On a small get together of Rabindra Jayanti organized by his mother he was asked to draw a portrait of Tagore and add a quote from his works. So instantly he combined the words of ‘Pochise Boishak’ into an image of Tagore and the whole thing was completely spontaneous and intuitive. Thus, this project was born.
