There lives an elderly couple Mr. Ashutosh Banerjee and his wife Uma Banerjee in south Calcutta along with their helping-hand Madhav Halder. Despite having enough financial comfort, the life of this elderly couple is shrouded in darkness, the darkness of loneliness which eats them away day by day. It all started going downhill when their son and daughter-in-law passed away in a road accident a few days back. The untimely death of their close ones has taken away their will to live. One fine day they go out to Chaitanyapur and it is there where they found a new meaning of life and regained their will to live. Raja Bandopadhyay's upcoming movie 'Pantua' is made on the basis of this storyline and will feature veteran actors Paran Banerjee and Lily Chakraborty in lead roles. Actors like Rajatava Dutta, Soma Banerjee, Kharaj Mukhopadhyay and newcomer Aratrika are also playing important roles in the film.
The story and screenplay of the film is written by Raja Bandyopadhyay. The music direction is given by M Tirtha and the film is produced by Ara's Vision and Matra Productions.
