Our ears are one of the most vital parts of our body and you know why. We all need to know how to take care of them before you strike your 40’s and experience the repercussions. Here are the 4 main reasons and way outs, how you can sustain your hearing ability even after your declining years.
1. Try to stay away from loud noise
Noise pollution is one of the reason why people are becoming partially deaf now a days at their late 50’s, or 60’s if u are fortunate enough. People working in large factories are the primary victims who face this consequence. For them may be it is a daily habit and they are used to it but it is slowly hampering their hearing ability without being aware of it.
Same goes for the people who are street workers, since they are continuously hearing the noise of machines they are using to repair the roads and bridges and hearing those loud honks of cars on the busy streets over that.
For them, it is advisable to wear ear plugs while working. It will help them to restrain some amount of noise to reach their ear drums.
2. Loud music can cause TEMPORAY THRESHOLD SHIFT
A TTS is a temporary shift in the auditory threshold, which may occur suddenly after exposure to a high level of noise, results in temporary hearing loss.
It mainly occurs to the people who are party freaks and musicians who does heavy music like metal, hard rock, or electronic music. It is recommended that you spend some time in a quiet place and not expose yourself to loud sound.
The recovery time varies from person to person. For someone, it may take only few hours for symptoms to subside and for others, it can take days to overcome the result of TTS. If it does not recover in few weeks, then you should seek medical advice.
3. Headphones can cause ear fatigue
Ear Fatigue is a phenomenon that occurs after prolonged exposure to an auditory stimulus.
It mainly happens to the sound engineers and teenagers who are daily operators of headphones. The symptoms are tiredness, discomfort, pain, and temporary loss of sensitivity in ears.
So for them, it is recommended to avoid in-ear headphones and try to listen songs in a very minimum volume. It will enhance the quality of your hearing and will improve the sensitivity of your ear.
4. Try to avoid Cold water or ice creams to avoid infection
People with sinus are the main victims of this kind of infections.
Though it is very hard to recognise whether it is a sinus infection or ear infection due to its similarities in symptoms, but with proper diagnose, you can actually recognise and cure it. It takes few weeks to cure and if you neglect, it can lead to temporary hear loss.
So it’s better to avoid cold water or ice creams, especially for people who works with sound in their daily life.
