Do you know that Guwahati is the first ever railway station run by solar power? Indian Railways are looking forward to being more energy efficient and environment friendly so they have planned for the same. It is a fact that solar energy is widely used across the national transport’s network to run trains and power stations.
It was commissioned in April 2017 and since then the solar power plant placed at Guwahati railway station expects to reduce the carbon footprint. It saves the electricity cost as well.
- 700 KWp grid interactive solar power plant has been set up over the roof of the Guwahati railway station.
- The total cost of the project, as per Indian Railways estimates, is approximately Rs 6.7 crore.
- The total amount of electricity saved is equivalent of Rs 67 lakh.
- 7, 96,669 KWH was the total solar power generated in the plant between April 12, 2017 to May 10, 2018
- 2352 solar modules have been installed at the roof-top of the solar power plant.
