Winter is finally going to settle in all the South Bengal districts, including the city of Kolkata and the mercury levels will start going down in the next 48 hours. The Regional Meteorological Department in Alipore has recently informed that the winter chills will finally enter the South Bengal districts as the western disturbances have ceased to have any impact on the weather system in West Bengal. The weather department explained that a steady flow of western disturbances had prevented the chilling northern wind from entering South Bengal for quite some time but it is finally going to get weakened allowing the flow of the northern chills into the state. Kolkata’s temperature has remained unusually higher during this time of the year when the winter chill is supposed to set in, causing a great deal of discomfort among the citizens. Other South Bengal districts too are experiencing the same thing for quite sometimes now. The reason behind the rising temperature during this time of the year was the increasing intensity of the western disturbances. However, changes will take place in the weather system soon and winter may set in from the next week in its full swing. A weather official said, "The northern wind that carries cold air to the South Bengal districts will have an uninterrupted flow as the western disturbances will cease to have an impact on the weather from next Saturday. Winter may hit the state in full swing from the next week. The temperature in North Bengal has already gone down by a few notches".
