On 13th March, Tuesday the Supreme Court decided to extend the deadline to link Aadhaar Card with other non-subsidised and private government services such as phone number, bank account even tatkal passport. The last day of linking with Aadhaar card which was set previously for 31st of March has been extended for indefinite period. The Supreme Court will deliver their verdict on bunch of petitions dealing with the legal validation of Aadhaar card and weather it is safe to link the personal ID number with any other government services. Well, this is surely a major relief for the commoners of the country but here is why we still need to link our Aadhaar card-
- The date is still the same for SNP (supplementary nutrition program).
SNP is one of the six services of ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) which is primarily designed to bridge the gap between ADI (Average Daily Intake) and RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance).
- The deadline stays the same till March 31 to Link Aadhaar for those who want subsides for food grains.
- Aadhaar linking is needed for financial support under the National Mission for Empowerment of Women program.
- The Aadhaar link is still compulsory for Integrated Child Protection Scheme, Maternity Benefit Programme and the deadline is March 31.
