The Janmashtami celebration is a big festival for every household in Bengal. However, the Radhashtami festival is celebrated after 15 days of Janmashtami. Radhasthami festival is also referred to as Radha Jayanti.
During this time, devotees worship Radha Rani. This year, Radhashtami will held on September 11th. Every year, this festival is observed on the Ashtami tithi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadra. It is believed that Radha Rani was born in Barsana on this day.
Pre-ritual guidelines for Radhashtami:
Many people do fast on puja day. Then wake up in the early morning and take a Brahma Muhurta bathe. Additionally, it is recommended to consume only sattvic food during the festival. Non-vegetarian food like fish, meat, onions, and garlic should be avoided. On puja day, offerings like puri, malpua, and chana dal as prasad. Moreover, by worshiping God Radharani through mantras, stotras, and abhisheka, devotees can receive Radha Rani’s blessings.
