Cyclone Remal brought some relief from the intense heat. But when the cyclone's risk was reduced, the weather changed again. The intense heat is making Bengal uncomfortable once more. The discomfort has been made worse by higher humidity levels, even though there hasn't been any significant rainfall.
But will this heat persist, or will Bengal residents face impending rainfall? Here's what the Alipore weather office has to say:
Currently, South Bengal is expected to endure days filled with clouds and occasional sunshine, accompanied by rising temperatures. Over the next three days, temperatures in South Bengal's districts could rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius. As a result, people might feel uneasy. Furthermore, the Meteorological Department has said that thunderstorms with rain are possible in Kolkata and nearby areas in the late afternoon or evening.
Additionally, it has been reported that from Friday onwards, several districts may experience thunderstorms with rain, and South Bengal is also expecting widespread occurrences throughout Saturday and Sunday. Along with that, the Alipore weather office has warned of squally winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometres per hour in some districts of the coastal region.
However, it's not just South Bengal; North Bengal is also expected to receive its share of rainfall.
There is a forecast for strong gusts in addition to the rain. Heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar during the span of the next three to four days. It is expected that this intense rainstorm will last until Friday.
Similar to South Bengal, the temperature will be hot and unpleasant in Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, and Dakshin Dinajpur.
