Weather Report: Is South Bengal Expecting Rain From Monday? What Did The Alipore Weather Office Say?

Bengal is waiting for rain as June approaches its midpoint. In many areas, there are still no signs of rainfall despite the rising temperatures.

The Alipore Weather Office said that from Monday, South Bengal may see pre-monsoon showers accompanied by thunderstorms. Some areas may experience winds of 30 to 40 km/h, with isolated gusts possibly reaching 50 km/h.

According to forecasts, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, Purba Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Purba Bardhaman, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and Nadia districts might witness thunderstorms with lightning. Paschim Bardhaman, Paschim Medinipur, and Purulia could also experience rain, but high temperatures will prevail on Monday.

However, North Bengal contrasts sharply with its southern counterpart. Recent days have seen heavy rainfall in northern districts, exacerbating river levels like the Teesta in Sikkim, leading to road closures affecting tourists.

According to reports from the Alipore weather office, on Monday and Tuesday, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar may see very heavy rainfall. Up until next Friday, there may be a lot of rain in the Kalimpong and Darjeeling regions. On the other hand, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur, and Malda may experience scattered thunderstorms with lightning on Monday and Tuesday.

On Sunday, Kolkata had a temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius, which was two degrees higher than Monday's temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius, which was three degrees higher.
