Watford 1- 1 Tottenham: Ten men Tottenham settle for a point against Watford

This is turning out to be a rather strange season for Tottenham as this season; they have produced their finest displays in history in the Champions league by winning against European giants Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, but have just been able to take three victories and dropped 13 points from their last eight matches.

Having lost defender Davinson Sanchez to a red card, Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham toiled for the majority of the second half with only 10 men and held out admirably to protect their point.
Watford however, have failed to beat Tottenham since 1987 after 10 men Spurs held out for a draw to salvage a point.

The Hornets defender Christian Kabasele took the lead, when he darted in front of Harry Kane to meet Tom Cleverly’s corner with an unmarked header to put Watford in front.

But just as Watford were threatening to make life very uncomfortable for Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs, and Richarlison's credible penalty appeal was rejected by referee Martin Atkinson at one end, Spurs broke away to equalise with a devastating counter-attack seconds later.

Christian Eriksen was afforded way too much space for a player of his class and his low centre picked out Son Heung-min who slotted the ball into the back of the net.

Watford again came desperately close to restoring their lead when Abdoulaye's first-time shot from 25 yards crashed off the post.

Tottenham now face an almighty challenge to guarantee Champions League football when they return to White Hart Lane next season and this is the growing contradiction of a side who obliterated Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in European competition but stand only seven points clear of war-torn Everton in the Premier League.
