Kolkata experiences several extravagant festivals throughout the year. Be it ‘puli-pithe’ festival or Shanti Niketan ’s ‘Sona-Jhuri’ haat.
Speaking about fair, the 43rd International Kolkata Book fair is now at the verge of its inauguration on the 31st January 2019. Meanwhile, all the micro events are now slowly falling in place before the mega-events start. The Bookfair will be inaugurated at the Central Park Mela Complex, Salt Lake, Karunamayee in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Smt. Mamata Banerjee, H.E Mr. Giovanni Castillo (Ambassador of Guatemala), Prof Euda Morales, authors from Guatemala and other Hon'ble ministers of West Bengal. The event was organized in presence of Prabir Kr. Mazumdar (President), Guild Mr. Tridip, KR. Chatterjee (Honorary General Secretary). Mr. Sudhangshu Dey (Director) along with Smt. Sujata Sen.
This time book fair reflects the city’s vibrancy of thought, its engagement with the literary world at large and explores literature as part of our tangible and intangible heritage.
This year’s highlights for the International Kolkata Book Fair:
1.There will be approx. 600 stalls and 200 little Magazines.
2.There will have nine entry and exit gates in the IKBF 2019 for the easy moment of the visitors. The two main gates will be a replica of Guatemala’s architecture.
3.3 halls will be mainly named after Nirendranath Chakraborty, Diyendu Palit, and Atin Bandyopadhyay. On the other hand, the little magazine pavilion will be named after Pinaki Thakur.
26 countries across the globe will participate in the International Kolkata Book Fair-2019. Authors from Russia, Costa Rica, Spain, Scotland, Australia, Guatemala, Argentina, Bangladesh will participate in this fair. Most interestingly, this year anyone can get a Book library if they are lucky. All you have to do is ‘Buy books and win a book Library’ as the grand prize.
