With an aim higher than sky, Calcutta Debating circle stepped on the same footing with the youth of today on 13thDecember 2017 at Victoria Memorial Hall, Eastern Quadrangle. With the graceful presence of prominent personalities like Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Ms Swati Gautam, Dr. Sandip Chatterjee, Mr. Shankar Ramalingam, Mr Raju Raman, Mr Pradeep Gooptu and many more Victoria Hall successfully grabbed deserved attention.
The schools like National High school for girls’, DPS Ruby Park, The Newtown School, DPS Newtown, The Heritage School, Techno India Group Public School, St. Xavier’s Collegiate school, Sushila Birla Girls’ school, DAV public school, St. John’s Diocesan, Aryakanya Mahavidyalaya, Silver Point, The Cambridge School and few international schools like Boston High, a school from Singapore and many other places abroad took active part in the entire interactive session and relished playing the dynamic role.
The highly promising presence of talented personalities like the illustrious artist Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya and much recognized poet, lyricist, Bengali columnist, singer of today Mr. Chandril Bhattacharya has taken the platform to a much dignified state. A deep thought aroused in the confab and the topics that were raised were truly of high concern. Students of all the participating schools put up their views and ideas on the concept of the relationship between teacher and students and the role of the teachers in their lives. The discussion ended up in a very positive note.
We all are troubled and highly anxious about the future of the youth today because of the nosiness of social media in their lives, but the event by Calcutta Debating circle has given new prospects to the thought as a whole. Students defended that social media has stimulated the opportunity of learning for them because today they can straightforwardly interrelate with their teachers even after school. “Student confluence 2017” is coming up with their debate session on 14th December 2017 at ICCR at 10 am in the morning.
আমরা চেয়েছিলাম আরো কিছু বাংলা মিডিয়াম স্টুডেন্টদের এখানে আজ আনতে,কিন্তু সামনে সবার পরীক্ষা থাকার জন্য সেটা হয়ে ওঠেনি| এই প্রচেষ্টা করার কারণ এটাই বোঝানো সবাইকে যে প্রতিবন্ধকতা আমাদের মনে, দিব্যি সবাই এখানে এসে বিদেশের স্কুলের স্টুডেন্টদের সাথে কথা বলছে, গল্প করছে|এই exposure দরকার ছিল, আজ তারা যেটা পাচ্ছেনা|আমাদের কর্তব্য তাদের সামনে এটা তুলে ধরা, says Dr. Kunal Sarkar, who was found in a different role in today’s event. On the other hand Mr. Shankar Ramalingam focused on the concept of “over parenting” that is actually sullying the lives of the young buds, which are ready to bloom at any spell.
