West Bengal’s recent scheme of 100-days work went successful as they have achieved the target for the year in advance, three months before deadline.Bengal’s targetfor financial year (FY) 2018-19, which set by the Central Government, was creating 25 crore man-days by March 31, 2019 and till Thursday, December 6, the number of man-days created was 23 crores 22 lakh 87 thousand. The State Panchayats Department hopes of achieving the target much in advance.
The target set by the Union Ministry for Rural Development for the last financial year, 2017-18, was 23 crore man-days but then also Bengal had overhaul the target by creating 31.25 crore man-days.The moderate number of working days infinancial year, 2017-18 was 60 but this financial year, that number will already touch 59 by the end of December.In FY 2017-18, Rs 7,000 crore wasused to pay earnings to 52 lakh families. This year, Rs 7,000 crore has already been spent for 49.53 lakh families, by December 6.
Few months back a team of officials sent by the Central Government visited the State to do a definite check of the situation and were quite gratified after the check. The official team was especially impressed by the matter that the West Bengal Government has taken up various types of work, apart from those designated by the Central Government, under the horizon of 100 Days’ Work.
