The Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to run two pairs of special trains during Durga Puja. Additionally, Tenzing Norgay Central Bus Terminus in Siliguri has been launched at the new buses. Passengers will no longer face any issues while pandal hopping.
Public transport is the primary means for people to travel across the city. Therefore, the Northeast Frontier Railway will operate two pairs of special trains. One Puja special train will run between Anand Vihar Terminal and Katihar from October 8 to November 27. Another train will operate between Dibrugarh and SSS Hubballi Junction for a single trip on October 5, 2024.
Puja Special Trains:
1. Train No. 04047 - (Katihar to Anand Vihar Terminal) will travel from Katihar to Anand Vihar Terminal.
Schedule: Every Wednesday and Saturday, it departs at 18:00 and arrives at 17:50 the next day.
2. Return journey: Train No. 04048 (Anand Vihar Terminal to Katihar) will run from Anand Vihar Terminal to Katihar.
Schedule: Every Tuesday and Friday, it departs at 15:20 and arrives at 15:00 the next day.
3. One-way special Train No. 05926 (Dibrugarh to SSS Hubballi Junction) will depart from Dibrugarh and reach SSS Hubballi Junction.
Schedule: It will depart on Saturday at 13:30 hours and arrive at its destination on Tuesday at 09:00.
On the other hand, new bus services have been launched at the Tenzing Norgay Central Bus Terminus in Siliguri. The North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) inaugurated two AC Rocket buses and two CNG buses on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya. Additionally, 12 new Rocket buses are also being introduced by the corporation.
The bus services were inaugurated by Parthapratim Roy, Chairman of NBSTC, along with Gautam Deb, Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, and others. Two AC Rocket buses will operate on the Siliguri-Kolkata route and two CNG buses will run on the Siliguri-Cooch Behar route.
Parthapratim Roy mentioned that NBSTC will soon introduce more CNG-operated buses. The buses will play a significant role in reducing pollution.
