Toy Trains: Hydrogen powered trains will be introduced soon in India

The road authorities have decided to introduce hydrogen-powered trains on colorful heritage routes across the country. The first of these trains will begin operating by the end of this year. This step has been taken primarily to combat air pollution.

Mountains hold a special emotional place for people. Still, the dangerous goods of air pollution have been impacting the terrain, and this is affecting the mountains as well. The road authorities have taken action to make toy trains more eco-friendly to cover the mesmerizing mountain terrain from similar troubles. For that, hydrogen-powered trains are being introduced on the country's major railroads.

In the first phase of this action, a total of 35 trains will be manufactured. Latterly, the company plans to operate 50 trains across the country by 2047. In December, a German expert platoon will estimate the specialized aspects and safety features of hydrogen-powered trains. After that, the manufacturing process will begin.

The construction cost for each train will be 80 crore Indian rupees. Also, five palace vans are being erected for train conservation, each going 10 crore rupees. An energy product center is also being erected in Jhind to ensure a steady force of hydrogen, where 432 kilograms of gas will be produced daily, and 3000 kilograms can be stored.

These trains will primarily operate on heritage routes, including Shimla or Kangra Valley in Himachal, Matheran in Maharashtra, and the Nilgiri Hills in the South.
