Tottenham 3-0 APOEL: Fernando Llorente scores his first goal for Tottenham to end the group stages on a winning note:

Fernando Llorente, Son Heung-min and Kevin Nkoudou all hit the target at Wembley last night. On Llorentes’ 17th appearance since joining from Swansea for £12million, he scored his first Tottenham goal as the Premier League side finished their Champions League group campaign with a routine win over APOEL Nicosia. It’s been a long time coming from Llorente.

When Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino successfully hijacked Chelsea’s move for Llorente, during the dying hours of last summer's transfer window, he thought that he finally found the man to provide authentic competition for Harry Kane. It's not gone according to plan for Pochettino, but at least this is a start.

“Today was an amazing opportunity for me, I am very happy as I can help my team to win and this is the most important,” said Llorente.

Going into the match, Pochettino rested a host of regular stgarters for Tottenham; Kane, Hugo Lloris, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen among those given the night off as Llorente and Georges-Kevin N'Koudou were given rare starts.

Llorente repaid his manager’s faith in him with a deft touch and swivelled finish from eight yards out. Llorente was also involved in Tottenham's second, teeing up Son Heung-min who stroked past Perez from the edge of the area in the 37th minute. Georges-Kevin Nkoudou added a third goal later on, to leave Spurs feeling positive ahead of Champions League last-16 draw on Monday.
