Fraud cases are on the rise nowadays. Scammers are deceiving people in various ways, robbing them of their possessions. One of the primary methods of such fraud is through phone calls. Many people are being threatened and cheated daily. To curb this type of fraud, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has made a new decision.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has instructed telecom operators to take precautions to protect user data. New rule amendments were initially planned, with a potential deadline of September 30. However, TRAI has now decided to extend that deadline.
According to recent reports, TRAI’s new rules have been extended by one month. Telecom companies must implement these new traceability regulations for commercial messages by December 1. Due to this decision, telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Vodafone Idea, Airtel, and BSNL will have more time to protect their customers from fraud. This model is expected to help curb fraud soon.
New Rule:
1. Incoming calls and messages will be pre-screened by telecom operators.
2. Messages and calls containing specific keywords will be blocked immediately.
3. If SIM card users report complaints, those messages and call numbers will be blocked.
