Tata Motors is poised to revolutionise the performance hatchback segment with its latest offering, the Altroz Racer, set to hit the Indian market in the first half of June 2024. Going head-to-head with the reigning champion, the Hyundai i20 N Line, this newcomer promises to inject a fresh dose of adrenaline into the segment.
Unveiled initially at the Auto Expo 2023 and subsequently teased at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo, the Altroz Racer has garnered attention with its sporty design cues. Boasting a sleek blacked-out hood, roof, ORVMs, and pillars, accented by dual white stripes adorning the roof and bonnet, the Altroz Racer exudes a dynamic and aggressive stance.
But it's not just about looks; the Altroz Racer packs a punch in terms of features. Inside, drivers can expect a host of premium amenities, including a generous 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, six airbags, an air purifier, a voice-enabled sunroof, a wireless charger, automatic climate control, aluminium pedals, and eye-catching red stitching and accents. Safety is paramount, with a 360-degree surround camera providing added peace of mind.
Under the hood, the Altroz Racer inherits the potent 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Nexon lineup. Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, this powertrain delivers an impressive output of 120 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, ensuring exhilarating performance on the road.
While the Hyundai i20 N Line stands as the primary rival, the Altroz Racer is poised to take on other contenders in the premium hatchback segment, including the Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza. With its combination of style, performance, and advanced features, the Altroz Racer is primed to shake up the status quo and redefine expectations in the competitive hatchback market.
