Popular Bengali Actress Swastika Mukherjee took to Facebook to announce that she will not be seen as a part in any promotional events of her upcoming movie ‘ Shibpur’. The trailer of the movie was released on Tuesday, and as informed by the actor, she did not attend the trailer launch event.
Swastika’s Facebook post was posted on June 13, she wrote, “To all my journalist friends who have been calling and messaging me for the past few days to ask whether I will be attending the trailer launch of my film Shibpur, well I will not. I am not in Kolkata but even if I was in the city I would not have attended. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying.”
She also wrote, “Sexual harassment is not a joke and there is no forgiveness for it. And neither is there any redemption. The producers may think all is chill and cool but IT IS NOT. IT WILL NEVER BE. But #Shibpur is my film and I will definitely share the trailer for my followers and fans. Thank you.”
Earlier, Actress Swastika filed a complaint at Golf Green Police Station, that the co-producer Sandip Sarkar and his friend from US, had threatened her over repeated mails and morphed her pictures to make them nude and also told if she will not listen to her producer then they will release the photos on pornography websites. The actress then, lodged a complain along with scanned threat mails.
Many people have appreciated on Swastika’s decision on Facebook Post. An individual said, “No mercy for such mean people. Perfect decision.” Another one said, “You have done a fabulous job and just as Kharajda, Neel, Ronnieda and the entire cast and a fabulous team of crew behind the cameras. Anxiously waiting to see you all on screen.”
The movie ‘ Shibpur’ is based on a political thriller. It is directed by Arindam Bhattacharya and starred by Parambrata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Mamata Shankar, Kharaj Mukherjee and many others. The film will be releasing in big screens on June 30 .
