The Agriculture Department of the Government of West Bengal is currently conducting a detailed survey to check the amount of damage that has been caused to the paddy cultivation in various districts of Bengal due to the cyclone ‘FANI’. The State Agriculture Department was instructed immediately as the cyclone passed to collect details of the losses which the paddy farmers faced due to the super cyclonic storm. Since then, the officials of the department started visiting the cyclone-affected districts of the state in order to examine the scenario after the cyclone Fani hit those places. The officials are also taking note if farmers producing other food crops are affected due to the storm or not. The state government will provide financial assistance to the farmers whose crops were affected due to the cyclonic storm. The officials of the Agriculture Department after the completion of the survey will be submitting a final report to the agriculture minister of Bengal, Asish Banerjee. The decision on the financial assistance for the farmers will be taken majorly based on this report. A senior official of the Agriculture Department said, "The paddy farmers in various districts have lost their crops due to the cyclone. The farmers who are among the worst-hit are from the districts of East Midnapore, East Midnapore, Murshidabad, Birbhum and Nadia. We are considering how they can be compensated after going through the report".
