The time was when director Suman Ghosh himself was a Ph.D student at Cornell, he thought of making a documentary dealing with the mind works of the famous philosopher and economist Amartya Sen. The shoot started in the year 2002/2003 and it took long 15 years to end up when most of the scenario has rehabilitated a lot with time. It was challenging for Ghosh to get the dates of all the Nobel laureates at a time and subsequently the time gap was pretty huge.
The documentary “The Argumentative Indian” is shot across three massive continents, UK, USA and India. 15 years of patience and forbearance is unquestionably not a matter of gag and there was a time when Suman Ghosh lost all his confidence but his ray of hope flowing down the lines of heart has given us the gift of the most controversial film of the year “The Argumentative Indian”.
The most thought-provoking part of the movie on Amartya Sen was the tête-à-tête between Manmohan Singh and Sen as they both has their own set of thoughts and judgments regarding the process of liberalization in India. The movie will talk about Hindutva view of India”, “Hindu India” and burning “cow issues” and many such provocative and contentious aspects that is undeniably attention-grabbing.
