160 years old, St James School situated in Entally of South Kolkata is one of the most esteemed private schools of the city and is soon going to get a new principal after almost 20 years. The current principal of the institution Terence Ireland was the head of the school for the last 20 years and his tenure is finally going to end on May 31. Ireland had already completed his tenure six years back, but it was the former Bishop of the Kolkata Diocese of the Church of North India, Ashoke Biswas, who insisted him to lead the intuition for so long because of his experience and expertise. Terence Ireland said, “I am happy to be relieved of this responsibility finally. There was some pending work for which I was asked to continue. I am happy there is someone to take care of the school now”. Aniket Debroy has been chosen as the new principal for St James School by the school’s board of governors. Aniket Debroy is an alumnus of the institution himself and has degrees in maths and English. He was the former principal of St Thomas’ Day School, Free School Street and has also taught in schools in Dubai. Bishop Probal Dutta formally confirmed the appointment of Debroy as the new principal of St James School and acknowledged his interests in drama and music which will be useful to the institution. Bishop Dutta said, “Debroy was the most promising among the applicants”. Aniket Debroy will assume the office of the principal of St James School from June 1.
