Kolkata has always tried to maintain its position as the intellectual and cultural capital of India, whenever possible. Recently, the Hon’ble Education Minister of Bengal, Partha Chatterjee, was present at the first anniversary of St. Xavier’s University in its New Town campus and declared that the State Government plans for a new research hub in the city and they plan to do this under St. Xavier’s University itself, the campus for which will tentatively be built in Salt Lake.
Partha Chatterjee promised to provide all possible facilities to the researchers and allow them access to the digital library. While the University has been extremely successful with the under graduate and post graduate courses, they even want to see researchers excel in their field of studies. There shall be proper research facilities in the field science and social sciences.
Partha Chatterjee looks forward to keeping the brilliant minds of the State to itself by providing meritorious students a proper place for advanced studies. Hence, West Bengal seems to have taken another stride forward in improving the lives of its citizens.
