Preity Zinta, who was accused of getting into a squabble with Kings XI Punjab team mentor Virender Sehwag, completely denied the accusations. It was reported that after her team lost to Rajasthan Royals in the last IPL match, she got into some altercation with the mentor Virender Sehwag. Sources reveal that Sehwag might quit the franchise after this year. Preity stated that the tête-à-tête between them had blown out of proportion to some extent but that doesn’t really make her villain out of nothing.
She took to Twitter and stated her thoughts, “Mumbai Mirror gets it wrong again because we didn’t do Media net & pay them to write articles cuz that’s the only time they get it right. A conversation between Viru & me has been blown out of proportion & suddenly I’m a Villian! Wow! #fakenews”
It is true that she was not happy with Sehwag’s decision of trialling with the combinations and team strategies. It is not advisable to send skipper Ravichandran Ashwin at number three. Manoj Tiwary and Karun Nair were more gifted batsmen. The move ultimately backfired when Ashwin fell for a duck. It is reported that when Preity continued blaming Sehwag, all he did was to try to reason with her.
According to Preity, the stories have been misapprehended and highlighted in the most negative manner in order to tarnish the team image and spirit on the whole.
