Century old bungalows, incredible views and the best tea in the world are worth more enjoying than staying at boring hotels and resorts. Here are some old heritage cottages located in the lush tea estates of North Bengal, where you can hug peace, away from the smoke and dust of the city.
- Glenburn
Glenburn is often compared to the European vineyards. Enclosed within 1000 acres of private land, coupled with two rivers running through it, it is a rustic, Arcadian retreat that has lost track of time. You can go for bird watching by the river side, or sip the delicious, fragrant tea. The view from the bungalows is excellent, overlooking the Kanchenjunga and the Darjeeling town.
- Sourenee Tea Estate
Located in the middle of the Mirik valley, this place is famously known for the production of the world’s finest tea. The guest bungalow is situated at the top of a hillock, complete with a pretty red bricked roof and a sprinkle of vintage charm.
- Fagu
If you are having a low-cost budget but want to experience a delightful stay, Fagu is the place you should visit. Located in Dooars, its sloping bungalow offers a majestic view of the Kanchenjunga and endless tea plantations. This place has a surreal tinge, with stone fireplaces, antique furniture and ancient paintings.
