Last year in September the Bagri market in Kolkata faced an abominable fire which destroyed almost 200 shops there which lead to the shutting down of the market. The traders started repairing their shops. They will start their business as soon as the market receives a no-objection certificate from the fire department and other departments.
The fire thankfully didn’t spread to other shops except for the ones in block A. As of now the market does not have any electric supply but the Mayor asked the CESC to supply temporary power for the repair works to be carried out properly and smoothly. The goods of other shops were destroyed because of water used to put off the fire. This time precautions will be taken and every shop will have proper electrical wiring and fire safety mechanisms.
