CM Mamata Banerjee has already given Rajarhat a whole new look. CM Banerjee once promised that, she will make Rajarhat a well-planned, organised city and it seems she is fulfilling the promise.
Looking back at the year 2009, Rajarhat was an isolated place with little development and infrastructure, but now it has become one of the posh places in the city with major dealers inclined to open ‘state-of-the-art’ facilities. Seven acres was allotted to the auto dealers by state Government in the year 2006. The Motown is adjacent to Eco Park in Action Area II of New Town, with sprawling outlets of Lexus Motors, Eastern Honda, Renault, Maruti and Hyundai. However, the latest attraction in the line is the Jaguar Land Rover Showroom in the auto mall. Even Bengal Hyundai has taken up another portion of the auto mall and soon the Maruti Regional Office will shift to Rajarhat from Camac Street. As neighbours, they will have a Volvo dealership, along with Austin, the oldest dealership in the city.
