Victoria Memorial is a landmark monument of the city of Kolkata and it is visited by tourists from around the world. The entry fee to which is Rs 30 for Indians and Rs. 500 for foreigners. There has been a revision of entry fee for selected foreign visitors. The authorities have reduced the entry fee to Rs. 100 for the visitors of SAARC countries. SAARC stands for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation; the countries that form the organization are Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, India, Nepal, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. The move aims at attracting more visitors from these countries, also it has come to the notice of the authorities that visitors from a few of the SAARC countries complain about the high price. To create an opportunity for every visitor to witness the great structure this step has been taken. Many scholars also come down to Kolkata to study Victoria Memorial as part of Bengal’s history, art, culture, and architecture. Though the garden-entry-fees have been raised to Rs. 20 from Rs. 10.
