Today, on May 2, Thursday, the results of the 2024 madhyamik examinations were officially released. The examinations commenced on February 2 and concluded on February 12. Following the directives of the Supreme Court, the results had to be published within 90 days of the examination by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Consequently, the results were declared precisely within 80 days. The official announcement took place at 9:45 a.m.
How did the results of this year's madhyamik?
A total of 9,236,636 candidates had registered for the examinations. It has been reported that a total of 9,105,598 candidates appeared for the examinations, including 4,039,900 male students and 5,065,698 female students. This year's examination consisted of 7 compulsory subjects and 47 optional subjects.
It has been disclosed that 7,652,252 students have passed this year's examinations. The pass rate has increased to 86.31%. Last year, the pass rate was 86.15%. This year, 57 candidates have secured positions in the top ten.

The top scorer in the examination is Chandrachur Sen from Rambhola High School in Coochbehar district, with a score of 693 (99 percent).
The second position is secured by Samyapriya Guru from Purulia District School in Purulia district, with a score of 692 (98.96 percent).
The third position is shared by three candidates with a score of 691. Udayan Prasad from Balurghat High School in South Dinajpur district, Pushpita Banshuri from New Integrated Government High School in Birbhum district, and Nairrityaranjan Pal from Narendrapur Ramkrishna Vidyalaya in South 24 Parganas district.
In fourth place is Tapojyoti Mandal from Ramkrishna Mission Multipurpose School in Hooghly's Kamarpara, with a score of 98.57 percent.
Arghyadeep Basak from Paruldanga Nasratpur High School in East Burdwan district secured the fifth position with a score of 689 (98.43 percent).
Six candidates share the sixth position with a score of 688 (98.29 percent).
Krishanu Saha from Balurghat High School in South Dinajpur district, Mohammad Shahabuddin Ali from Mojamipur High School in Malda district, Kaustav Sahu from Medinipur Collegiate School in West Medinipur district, and Aleev Gayen from Narendrapur Ramkrishna Vidyalaya in South 24 Parganas district are among them.
In seventh place, seven candidates scored 687 marks, achieving a percentage of 98.17.
