Renowned Bengali actor Parthasarathi Deb bid farewell to the world on Friday night after a 43-day struggle with illness. The veteran actor, aged 68, had been battling health issues for several days, spending 43 days hospitalised due to deteriorating health conditions.
The news of his demise cast a shadow of sorrow over Tollywood. Parthasarathi, affectionately known as “Parthada,” served as the vice president of the West Bengal Motion Pictures Artist Forum. His close associates fondly remember him by his nickname.
A statement released by the forum’s general editor and actor, Shantilal Mukherjee, confirmed the actor’s passing. The announcement expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the esteemed actor and one of the forum’s key members.
Parthasarathi Deb’s body was taken to the Technicians Studio at noon, where colleagues, admirers, and loved ones paid their last respects and offered condolences.
Having been associated with the acting fraternity for over four decades, Parthasarathi Deb graced Bengali cinema with his talent. He had been grappling with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) for an extended period, along with a respiratory infection and pneumonia. Since February 9, he has been under treatment at a hospital, receiving ventilation support.
With notable performances in films like “Kakababu Here Gelen,” “Lathi,” and “Prem Amar,” Parthasarathi Deb had established himself as a versatile actor in Bengali cinema. His recent appearances in “Bogola Mama Jug Jug Jeo” and “Roktobeej” garnered praise from audiences and critics alike.
Despite having some dubbing commitments pending, the actor bid adieu to the world, behind a rich legacy in Tollywood.
