On 16th March 2018, Kolkata witnessed one of the biggest inauguration ceremonies of Calcutta Heritage Collective’s regeneration programme “Viva”. Kolkata has been a centre for settlement, trade and culture since the early British rule with a rich and significant historic environment and has a high number of heritage assets to safeguard. In the recent past, Kolkata seemed to have been losing the essence of her heritage due the collective laxity on our part.
The graceful presence of eminent singer Usha Uthup, Tabla maestro Bickram Ghosh, Shubhaprasanna Bhattacharya along with the Governor of West Bengal, Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi reminded the lovers of Kolkata once again that to reassert the glory of the past, all we need is to have faith, determination, grit and genuine fondness for what we are doing for the Bengali culture in general.
Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi stated very explicitly that it is tough to make another Kolkata because it has its own uniqueness and cultural virtues. Usha Uthup expressed her love for Kolkata with her favourite bong number “Kolkata Kolkata” while others celebrated the success of portraying such a world class cultural heritage landscape.
Special thanks to Ayan Chattopadhyay, who dared to come up with such a noble attempt and succeeded with flying colours. Kounteyo Sinha was immensely appreciated for clicking such wonderful pictures of the deepest sentiments of Kolkata and West Bengal.
