Almost every year Tarapith temple of Birbhum district undergoes some kind of positive expansions and this year is no exception. As per the instruction of honourable Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Bandyopadhyay, the team has come up with a plan. Initially, the Rampurhat Development Board will pay out an amount of Rs. 8 crores.
The total area of Tarapith temple is presently 3260 sqft, while the inner sanctum is of 350 sqft. It has become increasingly tough for the visitors to cope with the crowd when there are so many shops and stalls blocking the pathway. The plan is counting on the inclusion of flower garden of 2500 sqft in the eastern courtyard of the temple, new gates in the southern and western part, a 70*25 feet bhog ghar, two-storey office room, solar cookers for Prasad and many other detailed works.
Moreover, all the gates will be refurbished with terracotta work while the shops will be focussed to accommodate 30 business owners.
“We have always kept our force ready and we are there to help the temple authority at any point in time. We are in fact grateful to be a part of this overhaul. Even the Tarapith Police Station is ensuring the success of this initiative, says Mr Sandipan Chatterjee, OC, Rampurhat Police Station.
