After staying shut for two months, the famous Priya cinema is all set to re-launch this Durga Puja. Right after Mahalaya, the owner Arijit Dutta feels it is the correct time to re-launch the theatre on 9th October, Tuesday. The cinema hall finally got a clearance from the fire service department to open the theatre after a lot of examination a fire safety procedure. The news came as a pleasant surprise among the film fraternity and cine-goers.
On August 5, a fire broke out in the theatre when the audience was enjoying the night show. Even though no one was hurt, the theatre was instructed to shut down on that same day. It is to be heard that, the owner of the theatre wants to give viewers a taste of the heritage. Satyajit Ray’s ‘Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne’, ‘Pratidwandi’ and ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’ on the first day of the release. Speaking about Durga Puja release, speaking to a renowned newspaper he said, “I intend to screen three-four Bengali releases in the six shows of the day. I will screen two shows of Bumba’s film ‘Kishore Kumar Junior' and two for Dev’s ‘Hoichoi Unlimited’. I also want to allow two shows for SVF. They have Puja releases.”
