A clash between Western disturbances and a gush of wind towards the East has resulted in rain which poured over areas falling under South Bengal last day. The Regional Meteorological Centre situated in Alipore had previously predicted light to moderate rainfall in various areas of the south Bengal districts. South Bengal districts along with the city of Kolkata received moderate rainfall on Friday, March 15. This sudden offseason rainfall has brought temporary respite to the people of Bengal who were quite disgusted with the mercury rising up for the last few days. The sudden rainfall, however, didn’t have any strong impact and it only lasted for about half-an-hour. Traffic disruptions or falling of trees were not reported in the city following the showers. The Regional Meteorological Centre has further predicted that certain areas falling under south Bengal districts might get scattered rainfall on Saturday as well. The sky is going to remain gloomy on Saturday as per the predictions. Following the rainfall, the humidity is most likely to get higher during the day and night temperature may slightly fluctuate.
