Popular Bengali film and television actress Rita Koiral passed away on 19th November in a private hospital in Kolkata. She passed away after a three-month battle with liver cancer. She was just 58 years old. She is survived by her daughter.
During her time, she worked with famous directors like Aparna Sen, Rituparno Ghosh and Anjan Dutta.
Her prominent films include 'Asukh' (1999) by Rituparno Ghosh, Aparna Sen's 'Paromitar Ekdin' (2008) and 'Dutta Vs Dutta' (2012) by Anjan Dutta.
'Boro Bou', 'Gunda', 'Jiban Niye Khela' and 'Chirodini Tumi Je Amar' are among her other hit films.
Leading Bengali film superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee said he was "shocked and extremely upset" over Koiral's sudden demise.
"Loss for the industry. Such a powerful actress she was," Prosenjit Chatterjee tweeted.
She was working in popular soaps like Rakhi Bandhan and Stree, which are currently on air.
