India witnessed the first ever Pet Carnival which was a proud initiative by the silver screen stars Debolina Dutta and her husband Tathagata Mukherjee who were undoubtedly the famed pet lovers in the Bengali film industry. The first ever unique carnival was witnessed by the kolkata’s on the 26th of November 2017. The rally started from three major places in the city Sealdah, Esplanade and Shovabazar and ultimately ended in Md. Ali Park.
The motive of the rally was basically to spread awareness among people but other than that the rally had amazing attractions. Not just the common people but even the celebrities had brought in their pets and had joined the rally. One of the main attractions of the carnival was the ‘Ramp show’ where the pets actually walked the ramp on the red carpet and were the stars of the evening.
The extremely colorful rally had countless animal masks, and incredibly eye-catching slogans. It even had a dragon dance. Another major attraction was the adoption stall, where pets could be adopted. People often stray their pets or are cruel to the ones on the streets, the adoption stall however had the motive of letting pet lovers come forward and take the initiative and adopt the little homeless creatures and make them a part of the family with kindness and warmth.
This was India’s first ever such awareness program in which Kolkata again took the lead and proved that Kolkata and only Kolkata deserves to be called the city of joy because it is a city with a heart. The warmth and love which Kolkata has, no other city can give in such abundance.
