Renowned Bengali classical singer Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after being diagnosed with a serious illness during a routine check-up. According to sources, he underwent angioplasty due to a mandatory condition. What could have suddenly befallen the maestro of Indian classical music?
Currently, he is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kolkata. It's been reported that he visited the hospital for a routine check-up, where he underwent a TMT test. Subsequently, it was revealed that he has three blockages in his heart. Following this, the musician was advised to be admitted to the hospital.
Furthermore, it's been disclosed that today, i.e., Friday, he will undergo further physical examinations. The date for surgery has not been determined yet. Recommendations regarding angioplasty will be made after reviewing the reports. If the situation worsens, bypass surgery may be considered.

Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty's expertise extends from Thumri to Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrul Geeti. In 2000, he received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Then, in 2011, he was honoured with the Padma Shri. The following year, he was conferred with the Banga Bibhushan. In 2020, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
