Kolkata: Satyajit Ray once stated that movies have the influence to change the mind set of people. Do films really have an influence on the audiences? Well, that’s a debatable question.
Akshay Kumar is certainly sharing his bit to the society. Starting from "Holiday", "Airlift", "Toilet:Ek Prem Katha" certainty made an effort by being a part of meaningful cinema. This New Year, he has done no less the same. His next movie "PadMan" is breaking the social taboo not only from audiences mind but instigating it to be accepted as part of the society.
Well, more than bits and part there is huge success before the release of the film. The movie has become the first Indian film which has screened at the Oxford Union. Actress-writer-producer Twinkle Khanna (A.k.A. mrsfunnybone) was invited at the prestigious Oxford Union to discuss the need to break the taboo around menstruation and the stigma attached to it globally. It was the most prestigious society on debate, which found its ground at the year 1823. She showcased "PadMan" as the maiden of the society.
"PadMan" is a real life depiction of an activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who just wanted to help the society and the need of hygiene 20 years from now. He created awareness and necessity of sanitary napkins. The film is directed by R Balki. Also featuring Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor, the film opens worldwide on 9th February.
