The Government of West Bengal has introduced a new service for patients visiting different Outpatient Departments (OPD) of the various medical colleges and hospitals in the city. Patients will now be able to book OPD tickets online and won’t have to wait in long ques before visiting a doctor. The new system has recently been introduced at SSKM Hospital for a trial period and other medical colleges will soon be introduced to this service after necessary changes are made for smooth operations. The main objective behind this initiative is to reduce the long ques of patients outside OPDs of government hospitals. After successful implementation of this service, the patients will receive a trouble-free treatment in the various OPDs of the state government hospitals. The patients will be able to book the tickets from the health department's website —'www.wbhealth.gov.in’, after filling up a form and providing the details of the patient including name, age, sex, and address. The patients will also have to mention their ration card numbers. The patients will be able to know the details of the doctors they want to visit and on their available schedule. The tickets can be booked seven days prior to the visit and the patients will have to carry a printed copy of the ticket to the venue. Once implemented in all the OPDs as a basic service, patients will be highly benefited by it.
