NON-VEG KABIRAJI? IT MUST BE MITRA CAFÉ!

A relic that has been satisfying our taste buds for decades is none other the famous Mitra Café. This café was found by Sushil Roy in 1920 and name of was adapted from the word ‘Mitra’ which means ‘friends’. During the nascent stages, Mitra café concentrated on very few selected items. However, with the paassing of time, the number of items increased. Mitra café never failed their customers with their famous fish kobiraji and Brain cutlet (sound delicious, don’t they!) along with a collection of savoury mutton, prawn and chicken items.

From the first iconic outlet at Sovabazar, Mitra Cafe has indeed evolved with their new outlets in South Kolkata. If you visit the Sovabazaar Shutanuti’s outlet you will find that it still retains the charm of the old. People are found standing in queues to taste the Chicken Afghani, Dry Mutton Chap and Chocolate Pudding. Who has an answer to Mitra Café’s fish kabiraji, brain chops, or Gondhoraj Chicken?  Even health-conscious foodies can have one cheat day, if they land up at Mitra Café!

Who visited this café?

Tollywood’s heart-throb Uttamkumar was a regular customer at Mitra café. The icon ate the Café’s Fish Diamond Kabiraji and Cutlet every alternate day.
