New year comes with new hopes and new beginnings and everybody takes new resolutions every year, and like everyone else, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation decided to collect dry leaves throughout the day and dump them at the nearest solid waste management station.
The state has already banned the burning of waste in the city and the decision to collect dry leaves is a follow-up of that decision. 100-day workers will be appointed for this job as per a KMC official. These workers will collect the dried leaves from dawn till dusk. Apart from that appointed gardeners of respective parks have been asked to keep the parks under surveillance, and keep watch on burning of leaves in winter.
