Among the several interesting things done by the State Government, this step is by far one of the most attractive. The State Government for the safety of the cops on dimly lit roads and accident prone zones has come up with the concept of making the cops wear clothes with blue and red coloured lights fitted on the shoulders so that they become significant enough to be seen even in dense and foggy areas.
1000 lighted dresses have already been distributed among the sergeants and 3000 more are on their way and is supposed to be distributed among the constables and home guards. These lights shall actually work as indicators so that so that they can be spotted easily by the commuters as they would be able to notice these lights from a distance in excess of 500meters.
This move might also help in controlling speed of the rash drivers as they would be aware of the fact that they are being noticed; thus reducing the number of accidents on roads and also reduce the number of signal violations.
The sergeants have already stated that they feel safer after the change in their uniforms as it has definitely has reduced the chances of accidents to a large extent.
For all the Bollywood movie buffs, who remember Yaarana’s (1981) famous track ‘Saara Zamana Haseeno ka Deewana’ filmed on Amitabh Bachchan wearing a brightly lit costume; the City of Joy shall soon witness such ‘Bachchans’ everywhere on road.
