Until now, we have experienced flu propagated by birds and pigs but unfortunately things are turning out to be different. It is seen that the dogs are carrying the mutated strains of the virus that immensely affect humans.
A recent report showed that the virus is gradually diversifying in the domestic dogs. They are becoming the prime vectors of the disease.
Dogs are the oblivious hosts in which influenza virus is starting to have a diverse genotypic and phenotypic characteristic.
“In our study, what we have found is another set of viruses that come from swines that are originally avian in origin, and now they are jumping into dogs and have been restructured with the other viruses in dogs,” Dr Garcia-Sastre said.
