On October 2nd East Midnapur will get a new university that is named after Mahatma Gandhi. The CM of West Bengal will lay the foundation stone that day. Apart from the university in East Midnapur the state is all set to get 4 more universities in Jalpaiguri, South-Dinajpur, Murshidabad and Alipurduar.
The location allocated to this project is a 20 acre plot in Kapaseria of Haldia on NH-41. This initiative by the state government will help students from these districts to pursue postgraduate courses nearer home.
Locations for the other four universities have not yet been finalized. The state is in talks with the district magistrates about identifying and acquiring lands for the construction of universities.
