Good news for the people who are daily commuters of the Ballygunge-Budge Budge route, the state government has decided to make cargo line eligible for carrying passenger train. On Thursday, officials went for the inspection of the cargo line on the Lake Gardens- New Alipore- Majerhat route. Railway has approved the proposal of using the spare line for passenger trains. Besides that, a new platform has also been built at the Tollygunge Railway Station. The authorities checked its infrastructure on the same day. Daily 27 and 28 down trains run on this route. Till now Tollygunge only had a single platform and trains coming from Ballygunge towards New Alipore used to halt for longer duration at the Lake Gardens station. As a result, daily commuters faced a great problem but with the new line and the new platform, daily transport will become easier and hassle-free.
