The newly appointed Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankar will be taking oath on July 30. Dhankar will become Bengal’s 28th governor after succeeding the current governor Keshari Nath Tripathi. He has arrived in the state already and was warmly welcomed by a bunch of ministers of Bengal including Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay and Bratya Basu at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. Chief Secretary Moloy De and Director General of Police Virendra were also present at the airport to receive the new governor. He was later given a guard of honour by the West Bengal government. Jagdeep Dhankhar is a senior advocate of the Supreme Court and a former Janata Dal MP from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan during 1989-91. Dhankhar was a minister in the Central Government and later he had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2003. He was also a MLA from Rajasthan’s Kishangarh and the President of Rajasthan High Court Bar Association. The To-Be-Governor of Bengal is also a member of the International Court of Arbitration. The Chief Minister of Bengal, Mamata Banerjee had earlier welcomed the appointment of a new Governor in Bengal and had tweeted, "I welcome Sri Jagdip Dhankar who has been appointed as the new Governor of Bengal. I just now came to know from media about this. I welcome him to our beautiful state".
Dhankar will be sworn in as the governor of Bengal by the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court at Raj Bhavan on July 30 where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee along with other dignitaries will be present.
