Nephrocare India marks its second anniversary with a health-focused initiative, 'A Walk for Your Kidney,' a successful walkathon with 400 participants and celebrities promoting the benefits of 30 minutes of brisk walking for kidney health.
The event was held on Friday, December 15th, from Nephrocare India to the Hotel Golden Tulip, Saltlake, in Kolkata. The event was managed by Map5 Events.
The event was graced by prominent personalities such as Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Founder and Director of Nephro Care; Film Directors Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee; Dr. Tirthankar Bagchi, CEO of ILS Group of Hospitals; Debasish Dutta, Secretary of Mohan Bagan Football Club; Ashish Mittal, Director of Golden Tulip Hotel; and many others.
The day of the event was followed by tea and a message from the founder and director of Nephrocare, Dr. Pratim Sengupta. He expressed pride in Nephrocare's two years of commitment to preventing and treating kidney diseases. He highlighted the significance of lifestyle changes, advocating that 30 minutes of daily brisk walking can contribute significantly to overall health. Looking ahead, Nephrocare aims to expand its presence nationwide, setting up 300 kidney care units to impact a million lives positively.
He said to the media, “Today is our second anniversary; we have completed two successful years working towards the prevention of kidney disease and its treatment. When a person has metabolic disorders, the treatment takes a lot of time, effort, and money. For a country like India, which is resource-constrained, prevention is better than cure, and that is the mantra for us at Nephrocare. Lifestyle disease is one of the biggest causes of several health issues, and it can only be cured or reversed by lifestyle changes. We, at Nephrocare, firmly believe 30 minutes of brisk walking every day can solve a lot of our health problems. Today, on this second anniversary of Nephrocare India, we want to highlight our commitment towards ensuring kidney health by expanding our presence across the country and setting up 300 comprehensive and holistic kidney care units to touch close to one million lives in the coming years."
Nephrocare stands out in its approach, providing comprehensive and affordable care by considering not just physical but also mental, spiritual, and energy aspects. Dr. Sengupta emphasized the holistic approach, treating patients like family members.
On this day, the advanced renal care institute, which was founded by the renowned nephrologist Bharat Jyoti Awardee, Dr Pratim Sengupta, launched a mascot, ‘Mr. Nephrocare’.
According to Dr. Sengupta, this was created to connect with common people and spread awareness about various aspects of kidney health, the need to focus on kidney care, the importance of undertaking routine tests for early detection of anomalies, and going in for holistic treatment to address any issues pertaining to the kidney. The mascot visited various key places in the city and outskirts during the course of the day to spread awareness about kidney health.
Nephrocare India, established in December 2021 and led by Dr. Pratim Sengupta, addresses the silent epidemic of kidney disease in India. With 1 in 11 Indians at risk of renal failure, the institute focuses on prevention, early detection, and comprehensive renal care.
Kidney disease, often symptomless in its early stages, poses a significant health challenge in India, with diabetes, hypertension, and painkiller abuse as the leading causes. Nephrocare strives to combat the rising numbers through a dedicated team, including nephrologists, dieticians, lifestyle counselors, physical trainers, and emotional support experts.
