Soumitra Chatterjee and Naseeruddin Shah, two National Award-winning actors coming together for the first time on silver screen. They will be seen in Saibal Mitra’s next film titled ‘Debotar Grash’. Mitra known for his movies like ‘Sajarur Kanta’ and ‘Chitrokar’ has been working on this script for one and a half year. The film is based on Jerome Lawrence and Robert E Lee’s novel ‘Inherit the Wind’. The film reflects thoughts on communalism, religious chaos, and intolerance in the society.
Naseeruddin Shah is not new to the Bengali film industry. He has done Bengali films in the past like ‘Protidan’, and ‘Khasi Katha- A Goat Saga’. Not only that the actor said that he has two film idols- Balraj Sahni and Soumitra Chatterjee. It will hit the floors in summer this year. As per Mitra said the characters will be seen speaking Bengali, Hindi, English in addition to tribal languages as the movie is set in Hillolganj, having Adivasi Christian residents.
