Chandrayaan-3 has etched history by successfully landing on the lunar South Pole, garnering global acclaim and admiration, especially from the proud citizens of India.
Expressing his awe, NASA Administrator Bill Nelson visited the UR Rao Satellite Center in Bengaluru on Thursday. He remarked that India has accomplished something no other nation has, and they deserve all the accolades for their achievement.
On this day, Nelson examined the preparations for the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite, slated for launch in the coming year, marking the beginning of a new era in space exploration.
In a statement to a Mumbai-based news outlet, Nelson extended his congratulations to India, acknowledging their milestone of becoming the first to establish a presence around the lunar South Pole.
Furthermore, he revealed plans for an upcoming commercial lunar landing, emphasizing that India leads the way. While others have attempted, India has succeeded, setting the stage for international collaboration on lunar missions. With the first international crew set to explore the moon together, India's economic investments in space exploration have positioned it as a significant partner for NASA.
Chandrayaan-3's successful landing on August 23 erased the memories of a failed attempt four years ago, making India the first nation to achieve this feat. Recognizing the importance of this success in space research, the day has been designated as 'National Space Day' by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).
Following this triumph, ISRO's Chief S. Somnath indicated that the team is gearing up for new challenges in the days to come.
