“Nabobarsho Boi Utsav” marked the start of the Bengali New year and brought great news for the bibliophiles and College Square was a fitting place for the start of this festival. On 13th April 2018, eminent literary personalities like Sankha Ghosh, Samaresh Majumdar, Procheto Gupta, Sanjib Chattopadhyay and Srijato were present.
Mayor in council Shri Debashish Kumar was also present in the inaugural ceremony and many schools participated in the occasion. The students from various schools came up with their performing arts. The event started in the year 2014 and have great plans ahead. As per the wishes of our honourable Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee, ‘Nabobarsho Boi Utsav 2018’ started with lots of fun-filled activities. She focused on the ‘boi para’ (College Square) of Kolkata and suggested this place for hosting the event.
‘Nabobarsho Boi Utsav’ is themed on encouraging the new writers and publishers while offering them to be a part of distinguished writers. In order to promote the Bengali language, it is absolutely indispensable to instil the importance of books in the minds of the people. ‘Nabobarsho Boi Utsav’ will be holding more events alongside selling books in the coming days.
